We will continue to work diligently to control violent crime, specifically gun and gang related crime, in Akron. Marshals Service joined efforts in this initiative to make Akron and Summit County a safer place for our residents. In response to the success of the operation, Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett stated, “The Akron Police Department and U.S. Additionally, Mapp was under parole supervision and released only a year ago after serving 10 years for his participation in a violent aggravated robbery in the city of Akron in 2012. Mapp was wanted by the Akron Police Department for robbery, which during the robbery he assaulted a pregnant female before fleeing the scene. A notable arrest during the operation occurred on November 7, when members of the task force arrested Chevron Mapp. Over the course of the operation, 135 violent fugitives were arrested, and 22 firearms were taken off the streets and out of the hands of individuals who are prohibited from possessing them. Task force members focused on taking violent fugitives and gang members off the streets with an emphasis on violent crime, habitual offenders, and gun and drug seizures. ![]() ![]() Operation Triple Beam is a collaborative law enforcement operation designed to focus on areas of high gun violence and gang activity. Akron, OH – The United States Marshals Service, Akron Police Department, and several other state and local task force partners in the greater Akron area worked diligently over the past thirty days to help combat gun violence and disrupt gang activity in the city of Akron.
